My name is Tama, I am a native French teacher, the founder of Learn French with Tama.
During my second year of learning, my progress caught the attention of the teacher, who bestowed upon me the endearing nickname "Frisé," meaning "curly" in French. It was during this time that I started to "think" in French. I stumbled upon what I consider to be the pivotal aspect of language acquisition: integrating new words into my thought process. This approach granted me the ability to speak without the need for translation as an intermediary step.
In the subsequent years, I wholeheartedly dedicated myself to enhancing my French skills. I engaged in practice sessions with French-speaking tourists from Quebec and indulged in numerous French movies to immerse myself in the language.
During my sophomore year in high school, I had the pleasure of meeting exchange students, which sparked the idea of embarking on my own journey to France. After gaining my parents' approval, I spent my junior year attending a high school in northern France.
It was there that I diligently pursued my goal of speaking French fluently, aiming to eliminate any traces of accent. I was fortunate to have an incredibly supportive host family, to whom I am eternally grateful.
Following my graduation from high school, I enrolled at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Over the course of four years, I immersed myself in the French language, engaging in daily conversations.
I eagerly embraced the challenge by enrolling in various university courses taught by native speakers. Surrounding myself with French became my norm, and I can genuinely say that I had an incredible and enriching experience during this time.
